I agree. There's more energy in a 3" shell. It either has to push harder (more pressure) for the same length of time or as hard for longer period of time. I'm of the belief that many average target and field loads are well below max SAAMI pressures also. A quick look in any loading manual will support that. That barrel does look pretty thin in the pics.
