Someone mentioned that they had seen regular dog training remote bird launchers used. I have two DT Systems launchers that would seem to me would work. They're not cheap, but then, nothing about a live bird shoot sounds cheap.

What I think we really need is a random release system that releases the birds on the push of a button. If I had the boxes, I could set up a PLC controler to do the random pick. I have an old Omron C20 with plenty of outputs and we need only one or two inputs.
It's been a while since I've been to a boxed birds event and Im trying to remember if there are seven or nine boxes. There uses to be a top notch event here in North Carolina but I don't think they run it anymore.
We have the perfect location and we're thinking it would be a hit.

Our two fields had 5 traps each, I have no idea what happened to the traps. They were Baranaby. Real money used to change hands on those fields! 85k in the last calcutta

Up to 16 of the individual DT Systems launchers can be controlled with a single remote controller. I use one controller for the two launchers I have. I can see how, say 10 launchers could be loaded with birds and only 5 used for a shooting string, just to keep the shooter from knowing which launcher was going to launch a bird. Dick, I suppose you were talking about Maloys in Oxford. I understand if you contact him he may put on small private shoots. When Deep River was throwing ZZ's there were a couple of guys who came that were big pigeon shooters and they had some equipment for sale. But that was a while ago.
If you are getting up a place to shoot here in N.C. then let me know. I would love to come.

Not to hijack this thread, but what's the status of live pigeon shooting in PA?
I would love to check out a big, competitive shoot and PA is the closest place to me that has, or used to have, them.
