Looking at the Guns & Ammo mag cover that Michael posted...The Mauser with what appears to be a "cocking piece" sight. Does anyone have a more detailed close-up of this sight? It appears to be adjustable for both windage and elevation similar to a Lyman 48 type. Interesting.
We could discuss the pros and cons of these type sights. Seems to me the speed of the lock time would be severely impacted but the additional weight. Maybe to a point (under the possible adverse weather conditions of hunting) of making the primer strike less then optimal...which could severely impact accuracy with unrepeatable primer ignition. However that may not be such an issue since after all it was a takedown.
