Is anyone willing to discuss Sedgleys? I know they are not considered top tier makers and many of you who have been collecting for years might find it "Sporters 101".
OTOH, there seem to many more of them around. Seems one would have more of a chance of making a start collecting in this area with a Sedgley.

Looking at the Guns & Ammo mag cover that Michael posted...The Mauser with what appears to be a "cocking piece" sight. Does anyone have a more detailed close-up of this sight? It appears to be adjustable for both windage and elevation similar to a Lyman 48 type. Interesting. We could discuss the pros and cons of these type sights. Seems to me the speed of the lock time would be severely impacted but the additional weight. Maybe to a point (under the possible adverse weather conditions of hunting) of making the primer strike less then optimal...which could severely impact accuracy with unrepeatable primer ignition. However that may not be such an issue since after all it was a takedown.

Michael, thanks for the great pictures of the Pachmayr guns. That issue of Guns & Ammo was the one that introduced me to Pachmayr all those long years ago when I was just a 14 year old kid who loved to shoot.

How about some bolt actions and single shots put together by the likes of the great pre-war builders that weren't Krags, Springfields, High Walls, Ballards, Mausers? (NOT that I'm complaining, mind you!!) Thanks.

Actually, I am just on the opposite side of the last post; I want to see "Best Quality" Krags. I am thinking Krag for a longterm project.

How about Verner Gipson? He may not be on par with other stockers, but I would like to see some of his work. Thanks, Peter A. I have seen several rifles with his name on them but have no idea if he did the stocking or not. Maybe other who have one of his rifles can post.

Great Idea, I like Sedgleys and early on I collected about a half-dozen or so. Nice rifles and I see a lot them out there for sale. Also some are called Sedgley but are not, seems like folks just hang the Sedgley name on a sporter and hope it flies. Case in point....Might have Sedgley metal. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=213355739I just have a Deluxe left and will post pictures, as soon as I find them.

I have a few sights that are not quite ready to be placed on fine custom rifle. I have wondered if any of these sights have ever made it to the "big time". Gary Bush
