Yes, you would indeed if it's a Diana, nice piece of crotch black, and no damage after 40 yrs. But certainly stigma-laden in some contexts; not so much in others. Many have admired mine; don't remember anyone asking if it had a salt serial. Of course they would do if they were shopping. Means it's a 2K gun when you cash out. I don't care. My sober and studied comment: Na na na na na Naaa.

I've rolled the dice on a couple of salt era guns and come out OK. Made some decent money and never tried to obscure the fact what they were. Now I've found "The Gun" I've always wanted......32" Midas Broadway lightly used not abused. In the salt numbers but no indications.......the butt stock was pulled... clean on the inside....2k under the going price...I want it as a shooter and that's what it wiil be....hmmmm what to do????

Ummmm Ummmm! Good on you, Ken!! As for me, if there wasn't this stuff with everything and nothing wrong with it, what would I shoot? I can rattle off 2K like I've got it, but I would have to spell out six thousand and xx/100 on a promisory note to my wife.
