I'm looking at a sxs for Sporting Clays...the gun has a SST, the trigger is placed about where a rear trigger would be on a double trigger gun. If the gun had two triggers the front (non-existent) trigger would measure out at my LOP. The Stock's LOP is about 1" too short for me by measurement but seems to fit me when I mount and point the gun.

Here's the qustion: What affect does the trigger being in the rear position, typical of a DT gun, do to my stock measurements? Do you typically require a shorter stock with a trigger in this placement?

If it fits you there's no problem.

It fit okay for a quick mount in the shop. Actually shooting it will be the true test.

I generally use the mid point between the triggers as the single trigger LOP dimension. However, I can very effectively use guns that are about 1/4" more LOP or up to about 3/4" shorter than the ideal LOP for me.

My thought is that the gun may be a bit short for you, but shorter is almost always better than too long, especially if the gun will be hunted and heavy clothes are worn.

Postion your hand on the wrist grip and trigger the way you feel they should be then mount the gun to your shoulder and see how the index fingers touches the trigger or if the butt seems to take to long to reach your shoulder. If your finger is not past the first joint, your thumb knuckle is not on your nose and your not waiting for the stock to come to your shoulder all is pretty good as is. If all else concerning fit is right.
