Thanks guys for being so helpful, I have looked at a lot of blanks now from the folks you referred me too. The upshot is that I have seen some very nice wood, but nothing that to my eye matches.
I also called and have now gotten a reply from Roger Vardy and some pictures of his blanks.
I am still confused, almost all of the blanks I have seen have significant streaking, whereas in the Model B's I can view, there is none to very little. Is this me seeing things (not reading either the pictures of the blanks correctly, or indeed the stocks I have) or is the walnut different ??
If someone would like to help further I can forward My Vardy's email with photos the blanks he suggested (after a detailed discussion) - all that I think look quite different to the rifle I have !!
