Last Thursday, my 2 older brothers, my Dad, and myself enjoyed a great day chasing birds dogs and shooting quail. The weather was a little on the warm side but not too bad. This was my 2 brothers' first quail hunt (they're the deer/turkey kinda guys) and they had a blast! Both are now wanting some brittany pups!!!!!

We hunted behind a total of 9 dogs and all of them performed like champs! There were 3 Brittanys (1 of them mine), 1 English/Irish Setter Cross (beautiful dog... black in color), 1 English Setter, 2 English Pointers, 1 English Cocker, and 1 Black Lab (both along for flushing and retrieving duty).

The birds flew incredibly well. This plantation conducts early release in Sept and maintains large coveys throughout the season. We got into several early release coveys with 25-30 birds. We also got into a couple wild coveys (and you can tell the difference!!!).

Overall, it was a great day afield!

Enjoy the photos....
