The weight of a gun is really a personal thing. I know someone that carries a 7 1/2 lb .410 sxs. That's what he shoots well. If he had a 5 lb gun, he probably couldn't hit much and what good would carrying a gun be if you can't hit what you intend?

Personally, I find a gun (410) just at or an ounce or two under 6lbs to work well for me now. My 5 1/2 lb 28g Repro is a bit light, but I'm getting used to it. It takes baby steps for me.
