Right chaps,

This is one of the very best Alex Henry rifles I have ever seen (at least in photographs) No Dealers looking for a quick profit, No trades please, the rifle belongs to the widow of a rifleman who appreciated good quality. See:-

Sensible offers or price opinions only gents please. One day your widow may have to sell your rifles, you wouldn't want her cheated would you?

Harry

Hello Joe,

As far as I am aware it is in the USA. If you go to the ASSRA posting (URL above) you could contact the person who is trying to dispose of it on behalf of the widow. Most members of the ASSRA Website can be contacted by Email or PM. Just find the post and click on the members name in the left hand column. This will open another page with the options of Emailing or PM'ing the poster.

I think that is at least the very least a $3,000 rifle. Probably should bring more. If I were selling it in a shop, the price tag would read $4,500. The description of the condition of the bore would seem to be the only drawback. How many Alex Henry rifles have you seen?

Those small Henry .360s are more common than you think.

The gentleman helping with the sale of the rifle said the screw/bolt in the left side of the receiver was for a takedown. I have only owned one takedown Alex Henry, but the take down mechanism is below the barrel in the forearm (shown in W Winfer's book) so this screw may be there to tighten up the barrel to the action.

You have a best quality Alex Henry dropping block miniature express rifle. Condition looks good, not excellent. The takedown "screw" is unusual, but appears to be original. The "cranked" lockplate is only found on a few best quality actions. A cased example in excellent condition having nearly all of its blue and case colors, even on the heel and toe plates, recently sold for $7500 at auction. and was probably a bargain at that. Theese are wonderful small deer rifles weighing in at less than 5#. I would suggest going the auction route to maximize return.

All the best, Mal
