i have a whelen style sling that is rf sedgley marked. the sling was dried out and cracked where the swivels were so i pulled it off my rifle and keep it in a plastic bag. i found the sling then about a week later stumbled across a sedgley 1903 in a pawnshop in freeport texas. its serial number is 2188. eventually i'll pull the scope mounts and put a lyman 48 back on it. hopefully i'll find the correct front sight too.

Neat! I don't think I have ever seen a Sedgley sling.

its serial number is 2188. Considering Michael's original post, that's pretty interesting - your serial is about 30 away from mine. About 1/3 of the Sedgleys I have looked at have no Sedgley serial number and the highest Sedgley number logged so far is 1729 * 2008 phone call.

dirtyjim1, does your rifle have a one or two line address on the barrel?

This is about the only place I've found to talk about the Sedgley! I have a Sedgley carbine, three diget serial #: 31X, marked on the action, in the barrel channel and another place that escapes me at the moment. Has a tall front sight and a lyman type sight on the barrel. Not a receiver mounted rear sight. Has a small diamond of checkering at the wrist, but it may well be a later attempt by someone else. Stock is a shortned military stock, not a schnobel. Have not seen another carbine like it.

I have a Sedgley Rifle (like new) in 300 H&H that was supposibly one of 7-9 rifles made for the wimbledon 1000 yd shoot in the late 1930's. Oddly enough it has a 3 shot mag. I am sure a lot of work went into making this fine rifle. Could anyone offer anymore information?
