I've just asked this on our main board but then it crossed my mind that it should be here in fact. So here we go.
Today I received from Germany a nice old 16g double marked on barreles EMIL KERNER U. SOHN SUHL. I understand Kerner was a dealer so who made the piece? All three main components are marked with E.E.S. within a heart. S stands for Suhl I guess but who was E.E.? (First I tought the initials were E.K.S. - Emil Kerner Suhl but under glass the letters seem to be rather E.E.S.)

I'd like to see an image of the E.E.S. in a heart as that was Emil Eckoldt's trademark/mark. On some of the early Lindner Daly's one will find the E.E. stamp and I guess he was the barrel knitter.

I know Emil Eckoldt's trademark as Ecko in oval, never heard about EES in heart.

I think Ecko was a later mark used when his son Hugo Eckoldt was a partner or later when Hugo Eckoldt & Robert Schilling were at the helm. Ecko may have been his telegraph address and it seems that for many makers the telegraph address and mark were one in the same.

ECKO Tradename of Emil Eckoldt Waffenfabrik of Suhl, Germany on rifles, c.1923-39.
What I found that Emil Eckoldt used EE in heart, not EES.

I've seen the initials "E.E." and "E.E.S." in a heart but I don't remember if I've seen "E.E." in a heart.

Is the faint "S" in a Chevron similar to the Schilling forge mark? Can you elaborate on the "encircled rhombus"?

I'm not sure what the Schilling forge mark looks like so I cannot say. This is normal, standard, plain, small s, not "sharp" or fancy.
The encircled rhombus (diamond) is on each tube, near the small s. The four points of the rhombus are touching the circle, and the four sides of the rhombus are slightly concave.

I checked the small s again. I don't see a chevron, but the faint thing above it could be a crown I guess.
