I take off to Maine in 4 days. I think that picture just ruined my trip.
I've gotten some big deer up there, but I've never seen one like that!

If I had one like that in my back yard and didn't shoot him when deer season came, there is no doubt that my Amish Dutch neighbors would. That is assuming they would even wait for the season to start.

I never ever thought I would post my property but the Dutchmen broke me when they decided they would let me stay on my stand (on my land) during one of their drives on the first day a couple years ago. Last year my neighbor told me he saw about a dozen preparing to put on a drive in the thick stuff across the road from my house while I was out hunting in another county. I said, "Apparently they didn't see the "posted" signs every 100 feet." He replied, "No trespassing signs don't bother those boys a bit." I thought about buying some mine field warning signs I saw at a gun show recently but the guy didn't have the mines to go with them.

Isn't that a mule deer? Short, ropy tail with black end?
Tines pointing up?

No Mulies in Virginia. Looks like a regular White-tail to me...Geo

Very nice deer with a slight non-typical rack. I agree in not shooting this deer. This deer has great genetics and is a good deer for future offspring. I'm guessing he is at least 3 1/2 years old and didn't get that big by being dumb. I'll also bet that he becomes a noctural feeder soon and if hunting season doesn't co-inside with the rut and if the little head doesn't overcome the big head, he will be around.

MER,

Any chance you'll tell us what county you live in? This is an awesome VA whitetail and the genetics around my family's Fauquier Co. farm is pretty darn good but it's been a few years since I've had a monster like that on my trail cams.

Thanks,

Jerry

Sure looks like a keeper. But, if the wife said leave it be, I'd be hard pressed to go against that order... Besides, nothin like having a live trophy in your backyard to brag about.

I am going to keep his location a secret. The picture is from last year. I am hoping to get some more pictures of him.
