I picked up a model 24 SxS 16 ga from a friend of mine. He said it won't fire. He took it to a local gunsmith who fixed it, but still won't fire! Both pins are hitting the shell, just not far enough to make them fire. Is this a common problem with this gun? And what can I do to fix it?

Take it to a gunsmith who knows what he is doing. The first one worked on it. He didn't "fix" it. Might be a wild guess, but if the riginal problem was that one or both hammers were not getting cocked, the first "gunsmith" may have lengthened or bent the cocking levers(too much) and now they are not letting the hammers fire far enough. I'm politely suggesting it's not a job for an amateur.

If you are using Remington ammo, that is the concern. Try another brand. The Rem ammo, is semi-dished in the primer area and is a tall leap for firing pins.
