Your inital report didnt indicate that you talked to the seller. Always contact the seller if you see something amiss.

if he made a mistake and it sure sounds like it, he should reimburse return shipping back to him and refund your full purchase including what you initially paid in shipping.

From your description, he messed up.
If a mistake is my fault, I pay both ways.

Update: I do not have my money back in hand yet. But he did agree to make it right (after some resistance on shipping both ways). He is a man of few words so no explanation of the mix-up. I almost didn't bid because I asked some preliminary questions before I bid (barrel length and weight) and always got short, non-specific answers. i.e. "about 30" and around 7lbs." also asked for bore dimensions or chokes and the answer was "out of town - no way of getting that for you".

In hindsight I should have been cautious and not even bid, but his rating and number of transactions made me take a chance. To his defense... He seems to be making it right and he does have good feedback. I will leave an "acceptable" feedback myself if all ends well.
