Below is a re-hash of M4's lasted H. Scherping acquisition: http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=205019&page=1 . The animal on the fences looks to be a goat(or of the Capra family)?

Interesting Heinrich Scherping drilling with what looks to be a Gebrüder Merkel stamp of a "G" Ore Tub in the shape of a sole with a Pick "M".

Without reservation, the stamp of the "G" ore tub in the shape of a sole "M", probably a process mark noting the amount of effort, is that of Gebrüder Merkel. The Merkel boys, Bernhard, Oskar, Gebrüder were heavily sourced by Heinrich Scherping.

Merkel drilling but I don't recall right off where this pic originated.

Gebrüder Merkel's typical stamp.

I'm going out on a limb and a step further and say that the following is also a Merkel process stamp:

on a E. Schmidt & Habermann drilling. I invite any and all criticism to prove otherwise.

Once again I would like to offer my thanks to Dave for hosting this forum for the continued learning of just how prolific the sourcing lines were in the hey days of German gun making, and Raimey for his continued and exhaustive effort in research & data storage for compiling pieces of the puzzle when it come to sorting out the different tasks by different master craftsman to create these wonderful guns. With Raimey's help I feel confident in the theory we have established in knowing that Heinrich Scherping sourced others such as Sauer & Merkel & others in these masterpieces he sold with his name & title atop them. Through finding & studying the marks on quite an array of guns that bear Heinrich Scherpings name, it helps open the blinds on the history of the many craftsmans workshops that worked together before a time of mass production and helping to re-establish the history of these men & their business practices & roles in making these guns & bringing them to market. I continue to be open minded to theory & fact by all in the quest to the truth on this history of which most has been lost or destroyed through the many years. Kudo's to all who join in with pieces of the puzzle!

Thanks M-4. Nothing really but just stumbling upon something that gives a direction to search. Even Franz Merkel used his father-in-law's firm, Udo Anschütz, stamp of UAZ in a shield on his dreiling offerings. It just about has to be a process mark of some contributed effort.

A fine soul sent me an email today making me aware of an interesting drilling:
http://www.stevebarnettfineguns.com/frm_inventory1.htm (tap Drillings/Combo)

From what I can recall, Henry Voght was closer to a used car salesman than a master gunsmith, but I could be mistaken.

The following are re-post for side by side comparison:

This is just a cross post for the F.W. Keßler thread:

http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=207927#Post207927

Henry Voght Chicago drilling referenced to Marshall Field:

My guess is that F.W. Keßler was also sourced for this example also. But without seeing the marks, Merkel(any of the klan) or Sempert & Krieghoff are viable options.

It could have an Australian style stock- need to some more wood please, . All the metal scars over and marring on the standing breech, plus the elongation ring around the firing pin hole for the right hand barrel would give me pause. Looks like a Greener style safety on the left side stock cheek, what form of selection is used/ Ejector gun?- 75 mark-- 75mm chamber length?
What make and power scope and make of the claw mounts- need more details if you could post photos- A Leica 35mm SLR with Agfa 200 speed film if you please- that way, we can make it a Verin Deutche//Oostereich Fest- Ja!!!

Fox, I don't possess any more info than what's on the site. I'd guess 65mm chambers. But do note the slanted Greener crossbolt. There may be a" TESCO" stamp on the left side of the rear lug.

Kind Regards,

Raimey
