A Lewis Grade 6E 1906 gun has joined the crowd. Thought some here might like to see some of Ed. Latham's scroll. The grade 6 of any era is not commonly seen. (Its not off face, I just didn't close it all the way)

Wow Walt, what a great gun. Thanks for sharing. I don't have anything above a grade 4, but hope to add something like this gun to my collection someday. Again, thanks for posting a photo of a true American classic!!!

Wow!! Cutting all that fine scroll must have been time consuming.

Its a very interesting pattern & even type of scroll. I also think the treatment of the frame's angle reinforcement is quite tasteful. What does it look like on it's underside? It would appear the gun has seen plenty of honest carry use in its 104 year lifespan, but obviously also been pretty well cared for. Thanks for sharing the pic. The pointer looks like a real hunter too, not carved by someone who sort of thought they knew what one might look like; notice his muzzle/head configuration is a bit more blocky than some of today's dogs & the stance is not so stylish, but I'd bet it was a very accurate & detailed depiction of a real pointer at the time it was engraved. Looking at the vegetation one might even imagine he was hunting somewhere in the Carolinas. Well, at least some coastal area when quail were still plentiful in the east.

Thanks Walt--I still have a weak spot for higher grade Ithaca's and it was great of you to share.
