The Midland Gun company was established in 1889, a catalogue in my collection from this period gives their address as :
Midland Gun Company, Demon Gun Works, Bath Street, Birmingham.
The catalogue contains 72 pages. Midland advertised a wide range of Hammer guns their lowest cost hammer gun the "Rabbit gun" sold for; 1 pound 10 shillings!Likely their most popular hammer gun gun was their "Demon" model, priced at 5 pounds.By comparison their best Hammergun sold for 12 pounds.A side lock similar to that illustrated in Lapogus,s post is offered at 5 pounds! In fact they claimed to offer, "The Best Quality Lowest cost guns ever offered by anyone,:
Midland claimed to have 5000 guns in stock, ready for immediate delivery. They offered gun repair, part exchange. They also sold every imaginable item, muzzle loaders, Winchester rifles, Reloading tools etc.It is clear from their catalogue that a great deal of their business was by mail order.
Notes in the catalogue show that a later date that the company also had a branch at Vesey Street,Birmingham.
In the 1950,s Midland had a small shop on Whittal Street, Birmingham. As a youth I visited this shop.At that time they were making some very fine single shot, shot guns For export/sale in British Colonies.[ie;Sale of double guns in the colonies was restricted in this turbulent period]. I Believe that this business closed in the mid 1950,s.
If you are able to post pictures of your hammer gun I will try to identify its grade from my catalogue.

Check out http://www.cornellpubs.com
Abby has many reprints of Midland Catalogs for sale. I know because I sent her my originals to copy.
I'd go with the 1914 catalog. It is from Midland's peak period. I have a Midland 12 SLE that is very nice. I also have a 32" bbl 12 hammer gun that is basic/plain but still has double under lugs and cross bolt.
I have seen the lesser models with a single underbite definitely made to a lower price point.
