Im not sure if this belongs in the section (or even on the forum) but I will try it on for size. I have an Old muzzleloader 38 cal that is EXTREMELY ornate. It has gold and silver inlay (not engravings) Mother of pearl eyes on the dog and Lion heads, tons of engraving and scroll work.
Family legend is that it was won in a high stakes card game in Morrocco in the early 1900s. Rust has taken its toll in the last few years as it was tied up in an estate and NOT looked after. I hesitate cleaning it as I dont wish to destroy its value. I have wiped it down with a light gun oil and keep it dry.
Any ideas as to its origin?
