I have a Hollenbeck 12 ga. x 12 ga. x 30-30. #767, patent date of 2/13/1900. Damascus steel barrels, fully engraved (bear & mountains on one side, deer on other side), bird flying over water on trigger guard. Butt plate has Hollenbeck Gun Co. and Wheeling, WV on it. 28" barrel, flip-up,stairstep rear sight, trigger is double with front trigger as rifle trigger. Checkered pistol grip stock with decorative pistol grip cap, fore end is checkered with engraved hardware. Rifle cocking lever in front of trigger guard. Wood has no major mars or scuffs. Bore condition is excellent. I have some information on Hollenbeck and the Three Barrel Gun Co. but am trying to find a value on it. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I think both Cherry's and Cabela's have Hollenbeck or Three Barrel Gun Company drillings for sale. But, condition is everything, so their prices have little to nothing to do with the market value of your gun.

Winston, I see you just joined the board so welcome! From your description you have a Grade 3 Hollenbeck. The 12 Ga was the most common shotgun guage while from most records the 32-40 was the most common rifle caliber configured with the 12 ga barrels. The 30-30 was also common on the 12 guage guns as well. I am traveling for work and won't be back to my office until later this week. I can see if I can find any info on your serial number.
Condition will determine the value of your gun. How much original finish is on the barrels, how much case color is remaining on the frame, is the wood finish original or has it been refinished. What is the condition of the rifle barrel rifling? Feel free to PM with your contact information and I can reach out to you when I am back home later this week or weekend.

Winston, off of the top of my head, I would think your gun No. 767 would be from the Three Barrel Gun Co., not the Hollenbeck Gun Co. Three Barrel Gun Co. often used the Hollenbeck buttplate. Is your gun marked Hollenbeck on the metal ?

The records for Three Barrel Gun Co, and I think Hollenbeck are out there. I forget who has them. Ron Peterson put me in contact last year at the Las Vegas SDhow when I bought a Three barrel Drilling from him.

Daryl, You may be correct on it being a TBG gun vs. a Hollenbeck. I have several of the TBG guns with Hollenbeck butt plates. Why let it go to waste, right. As for the records, there out there, but spotty, not consistent on the drillings, doubles, or SBT guns. Regards - doublenut

The records ledger I've seen was apparently started when Three-barrel gun Co. arose from the ruins of the Hollenbeck Gun Co. The records cover Three-Barrel Gun Co. and Royal Gun Co.
