James, I suspect the inlay was an enhancement done along time ago, but not factory. But who knows what Manufrance would do if asked in the 1902-1907 time frame of the gun ?

I my opinion the inlays certainly do not enhance the appearence on the old gun, maybe a good wood guy could make them disappear.

Do you own any Ideals ?
