I come across a decent amount of no name brit boxlocks and have no clue what the right price for them is.

For example:
12 ga
28"
2.75 chambers
Manufacturer unknown or was simply a name stamped on someone else's product.
Stock work done (pad, spacer, etc.)
Ejectors
Probably made in the 50's or 60's

With no brand recognition at all, what would you value a british boxlock like this in decent shape (80% colors)?

I've seen a formula that approximates this posted by some folks here in which one of the variables is "brand value"...I'm hoping as part of this thread we get that formula again, but I'm also curious how to distinguish between the various brand values.

Very plain boxlock non ejectors of this type can be picked up for £100 in good working order at provincial auctions. Add £100 for an ejector. If condition is very good and the gun visually better, the price can creep up to £500 for a plain ejector, up to £1500 if better wood, engraving and finish.

Of course, a lot of 'no name' provincial boxlocks were made to a very high standard and deserve, and get, much higher prices. Boxlocks however, remain excellent value.

Thanks Small Bore.

So going with the 500 GBP example for a moment. Lets call that $800 USD, but you then have to import it to the US.

So are we looking at another $400 USD for that, bringing us into the $1200 ballpark?

That looks about right. Like buying wine in the UK, importing a shotgun makes more sense the more you spend on the gun, as the percentage cost of shipping against value in the gun decreases in proportion. Better to spend $400 importing a $10,000 gun than a $500 one!
