Just got off the phone for the second time with customer service from Galazan. I had purchased an upper tang screw for one of my Mdl 21's. The bushing that it screws into is a little buggered up and I wanted to know the exact size of the screw so I could buy a tap and clean it up. First guy on the phone says they don't get to talk to anyone in the back. He get a second lady on the phone who explains to me that the screw only fits a Mdl 21. Yea I know that. "Well then it should work". Tell her the situation again that I need to know the size so I can buy a tap. Tells me that no one there knows the size and she will not take the time to take one of the smiths off of the line to find out what the size is. Thanks alot. $5000 dollar gun($10,000 if they are selling it) $15000 if new and you can't take the time to find out if it's a 10-40 or not. Any of you mdl 21 guys know the size? JW

Brownells book says it a .200x40. I just measured a 10-40 tap and it measures .195. Should work. Bill

I would caution you to NOT tap the gun, but to check the screw size. I had the same problem several years back and the screw was not the proper size. I wound up making a screw in the lathe and all was well. If you don't have the ability to do the job I'd highly recomend paying someone the relatively small fee to have the job done. It may prove much less costly in the long run. I feel it's best to always alter the least expensive piece when trying to do most repairs. A screw is certainly less expensive to whack on than a M 21 frame! Don Hansen.

Reviewing my post I may not have made my point as clear as intended. If the original screw come out of the hole, one knows it fit correctly. If a replacement screw does not fit properly, the replacement screw should be in question as to its proper size. Thus, alter the screw, not the hole it fits in. Make sense? Also much cheaper to alter a screw to get it right than have an "oops" with a hole in an expensive receiver! As I stated before, get some help if you're having problems getting it to properly fit. S**T not again! I hate hearing every other month that Galazan has poor service. S**T you think something would improve. Maybe the they could make up a "Galazan Sucks" Launch Edition t-shirt. Or maybe put it on some boxer briefs with red lips on the Buttocks.

I googled "winchester 21 drawings" and the drawings I found confirmed .200-40 as mentioned above. I could be mistaken, but I believe a 10-40 is approx .190-40 . I don't think it'll hurt anything, but may not help either.

For those that have been helpful, thanks. SDH how am I wasting someone's time? I bought the screw from Galazan. Maybe I don't have a method of measuring it. I work at a counter too and it really isn't that much trouble to go a little extra for a customer. What I wanted didn't cost them anything. They weren't even willing to try to get me an answer.

Do like I did and tell them you are going to reverse the charge if it was on a credit card. They then fixed my situation, they were so so wrong and replaced my part and then said they were sorry. I think they have a no return policy.

My experiences with Galazan have generally been positive. The exceptions were the lines of BS they continued to feed me while I was waiting for my two RBL's. Other than that, OK to very good.

Their "no return" policy may only apply to closeout items, but I don't know. I do know that when I wanted to buy one of their closeout Rizzini barrels for what I thought then was a lot of money for a barrel set, they couldn't tell me whether it would likely fit my gun, wouldn't put a mic on it to give me some basic dimensions, and wouldn't give me the option to return it (unmolested) if it could not be fitted to my gun. So rather than take a $1500 chance, I just didn't buy the barrels from them.
