I tried LL Bean Originals with the "chain tread" once. They worked OK until you got on a really steep slope, either ice, snow, or mud. Then you went for a tumble, which is embarrassing when you are young, disabling when you are a geezer. Had them resoled with Vibram lugs and they were OK, but had to have constant waterproofing to keep your feet dry. Went to Goretex and have never had a problem. The difference from earlier posters' experience must be that I now only hunt about 6-10 days a season and don't wear the fabric so much as some must who hunt more frequently. But how come it's lasted for over five years? (Don't you guys wear socks???). I wear the Vibram out quicker than the Goretex!
