The gun has a 15 3/4" LOP. Remove the 2" graft and most could shoot that gun. Add a nice 1" leather covered recoil pad and still more would be happy. A lot of potential with that gun for a shooter. I just find the step down in the barrel chamber area to be a big distraction. Still would be a fun gun to shoot and for not much over a grand a decent bargain. But it still French, ten lines of proof that tell you very little. The French proof house must have been paid by the letter.
Actually, the marks on Geoffroy's example tell you more, and more specifically, than those on most doubles. 850 kg proof, which is the modern CIP standard.
Interesting gun. If trimming the buttstock would get the weight down enough, it'd be a good one--as long as you remember that an Ideal safety is forward for on, back for off.
