W. & C. Scott & Son sold a LOT of guns in the USA, and had a number of agents/retailers there in the late 1800s. And, as you have noticed, even the prosaic Scott guns are of admirable quality. I've seen and handled a lot of Scotts, but never one marked "The Western Gun". They made models named the Australian and Canadian Guns, so why not a "Western"? By all means have a GOOD doublegun 'smith look it over. And please don't add anymore "glue" on the piece. It could just make things worse. Any Scott is a gun to respect.
