You can remove the chrome in the end of the choke area, and end up with a conical parallel section that will work just fine.

There are two possible problems with this.

1. It looks like hell.

2. The steel used in the Ithaca SKB barrels is not the hardest stuff in the world. By using their roto-forging technique, and thus obtaining a consistant wall thickness, legend has it that they could and did use a softer alloy. What you end up with may be subject to damage.

Mostly because of (1), I opted for a Briley job on mine. Expensive, but I'm well pleased.
