Similar issues occur in this area. A couple of years ago, some lakeshore trophy home owners were complaining about the noise and the hunters shooting in the direction of the homes in one of the numerous bays. The Fish and Game sided with the hunters, saying they had a legal right to hunt where they were hunting, and that as long as they were following the laws, there was no action to be taken. They were a safe distance from the homes, so as not to pepper any.
Along with this article in the paper, was an article about some guy that modified a shotgun to reduce the noise. I don't remember all the particulars, but he had lengthened the barrel to some ridiculous length (over 40") and had performed some other mods. He claimed it significantly reduced the loudness of the blast. This was his go to gun when hunting around some of these trophy homes.
