It seems a dark side of human nature that whenever people in any number are enjoying themselves, others look for fault or why the activity is somehow negative. I think it amounts to "fun envy" at best, and at worst, vindictive personal rights seizure/infringement.
The Mojave National Preserve is such an example IMO. A bazillion miles of nothing in the middle of nowhere. Dirt bikers found it their playground. The most desolate land in the country, used for nothing. The entire dirt bike industry was based on this area in large part. It was huge. Others just couldn't stand to see this group of people having fun. 'No, it can't be allowed to continue. Rats and turtles are being squashed to extinction from the planet.' Well they made it a "preserve" that no one visits. Now, it's back to the rats and snakes. The entire dirt bike industry all but completely collapsed. Then it was discovered that the dirt bike tracks collect water and promote vegetation groth that otherwise wouldn't occur as prevalently. The largest land grab since Japan took China. Meanwhile, Ms. Feinstein's mansion sits on prime habitat for gerbals or some such vermin. She should donate it to the state for a "preserve". %#*@ Feinstein's "forest".
