make sure you take off the buttplate and grip cap. Mold has a way of get in these hidden places. If you are daring also take the wood off the action and forend, Treat these hidden areas.

Sunshince and ultra violet will kill any mold and the fresh air and sunshine gets rid of the smell. Wipe the wood down with Orange Glo wood polish and rub. The coffee will help the case. As a last resort on the case, place it in a sealed bag OUTSIDE, with a half and half mixture of clorine bleach and vinegar. Mix this outside and be careful, as it produces CLORINE GAS. I've used this on fire damaged goods and books, ...will kill any mold and smells.

The chlorine bleach as well as the chlorine and vinegar options will help BUT in my experience, they won't totally solve the problem (Don't know why as chlorine gas should kill everything.)

I found that you needed lots of sunshine and coffee to finish the job.

ALSO, IMPORTANTLY, the Chlorine can and will bleach out the fabric colors of the cloth inside cases. I wouldn't use it to get rid of the musty smell on guns. Lemon oil or Lemon polish, may be a better bet for that - along with lots of sunshine.

Ok I've been keeping the case in the sun and yesterday it seemed like it was starting to warp just the slightest amount at the center of the lid so I put the case in a spot of shade sun combination.
The smell is almost gone so I'll keep airing it out . Has anyone had their cases warp because of the sun? The case seems very well made, and at this point I don't want to put it in direct sunlight being afraid of the warping or maybe drying out.
Thanks to everyone for your information

Never had a case warp in the sunshine.

Could that be an indicator that there was a lot of moisture content in the case itself?
