Given that handguards I have weigh 1/2 as much (2,0 to 2,5 oz) all those differences you report would be about 1/2, making the difference that could be felt about 1/2 as much and likely not noticed by many/most shooters.
I would presume that the additional 2,0-2,5 oz of the handguard you used is because of thicker leather, giving forestock hand additional protection for barrel heat. Of course, it could be heavier metal spring. With my lighter handguards, a fast round of black powder trap, especially 25 doubles, leaves a very warm handguard.
