Yeti: I tried to do this by PM but it just won't work so here goes. I know just enough about wireless to be dangerous. I just installed a linksys router on the main computer downstairs and a linksys card on my daughters computer upstairs and pushed the yellow cisco symbol button which turned white which I guess means all is secure. Problem is my other daughter came home from college with her laptop which has, I presume a non linksys wireless card, and therefore couldn't access our network. So I redid the whole thing again but this time didn't push the cisco symbol. My other daughter can now access the network with her laptop but are we in danger of being hacked? I don't really care if someone outside the house can pickup and use our network for free to access the internet but I do care if they can access my computer. I have a firewall running on the main computer downstairs i.e. the one plugged into the router. Sorry about the long OT question but I see you have the expertise. Any advice? Thanks, John C. PS my email address is jclark03@twcny.rr.com which I'm giving you since the whole PM thing seems screwed up since the board was switched over.
