What makes the 40x look mass produced. I am under the impression they are built from hand picked parts and individualy built. I have one that has spent a lot of time on the bench. It is exactly like it left Remington. My problem was not the rifle but the caliber. .222 won't hold up with the 6mm ppc. 40X better looking rifle than my early 700 BDL varmint. As a target gun the Remingtons are light years ahead of Mausers and springfields for many reasons. And yes there are some pretty Remingtons.
All this from some one who likes Jap rifles for a lot of the same reasons.
