One other question...what's market price for a refinished gun??
I averaged the prices of 16 gauge Sterlingworths on Gunbroker and Gunsamerica and came out with the following for 16 gauge 28" barrel guns. This average does not include a few guns that were advertised as collector quality guns in high condition...original with a lot of case color. The guns averaged ranged from original average condition guns with little case color to some that had some obvious refinishing. The average of 13 guns was $1566.
I have a Sterlingworth I might like to sell I used as a comparison...it's better than the 13 advertised:
28" non-ejector, Utica Fox with Philly features, blued barrel and tang at 98%, sanded in oil finish stock, small red rubber pad, dimensions approximately 1-1/2"x2-5/8"x 14-3/8" with a little cast off. Lever to the right and action is tight with the forend off. A bit of case color on the sides and bottom of action...20-25%. 2-3/4" chambers and original .015 and .030 chokes.
This gun has to have a higher market value than the average of partially refinished and original guns in average condition! What's your opinion?
