As Researcher has said, the lack of the lower pin is positive proof that the gun had the modifications from the factory, but having the pin is not proof that the mods were applied later. Apparently there were a lot of frames that had already been drilled for the pin when the mods went into effect, and those frames were completed with dummy pins filling the holes. You can tell whether a gun had the mod applied originally or after being sent back by the location of the dot in the serial number. On sent back guns, the dot is squeezed in between the letters and numbers, whereas on the guns with the mod applied originally, a space was left for the dot so it isn't crowded in. I have owned a number of these guns and had never noticed the wreath being present or absent.
