1908s were commonly rechambered to 8x57, the dimensions are very close

Interesting; I have a 1905 (9x56 M/S), would rechambering to 9x57 be a good idea or is this just compounding a problem?

9x57 dies were once a standard catalog item (at least for Lyman around 1970) but are now as rare and expensive as 9x56 dies. 9x57 loaded ammo was likewise once available at a reasonable price, but no longer. BTW much of this older 9x57 ammo has corrosive primers so beware.

So yes, I'd say that rechambering would NOT be my first choice. I've never owned a 1905 but have 'heard' that the 9x56 chamber will sometimes accept the 9x57 ammo. IMO it would be worth doing a chamber cast, and CH4D can supply dies.
Regards, Joe

I hope these pictures answer a few questions at the same time:

The takedown system above was done in England. The ANCSL retailed example below is pure M-S.

Peconga,
My list, based on my old personal notes, is very limited but nevertheless I find it useful since I do not know of any other...

With kind regards,
Jani

My m1908 has numbered 16XXX so it supposed to be quite late one.

But I have too another M-S which pipe has changed to Böhler made and caliber to 6,5x57 on 1964. But I´m rather sure the basic rifle is quite old because there is still the back screw for Wienna mount on action, magazine is the older model and the rifle number is 13XXX.
