There is a great article about Bo Whoop in the current issue of Garden & Gun Magazine.

It's good and informative, but great is a stretch!

I got the very first issue of that magazine. It was SO trendy, and ill informative., that I actually called the editors on it. And cancelled...

The folks that put out Shooting Sportsman also publish some stuff like that, at least IMO. They use a lot of words like "serendipitous," rather often it seems. That kind of stuff makes this Georgia boy want to throw up my grits!! I'm another one that does not care in the least for the ultra trendy and pretentious rags. Most of the folks here on this forum seem like just regular guys. I appreciate that.

Somebody thought "Garden and Gun" is a good name for a magazine? Martha Stewart + Michael McIntosh = Garden and Gun. In next month's issue: "Got Your Whitetail? How to Field Dress it and Then Pick a Chilean Wine to Go With It." TT

The fellow who wrote the quail plantation article took a plane to the area, but they lost his gun. He said "The hell with it", and popped on over to the plantation, supposedly by cab, to use a borrowed gun. Do we really believe the writer owns a shotgun?

I have lived from Iowa to Alaska, never south of that. The Garden and Gun [yes I agree it's sort of a funny name]is about the good things in "Southern" living, many of which I know little about. That said, I find I actually read a half dozen articles in each issue and pay attention to the recipes, too. I find the pages, mostly uncluttered with ads, quite readible. Now, if I can find some good green tomatos, I will try the fried green tomato recipe in this issue. The last ones I made stunk. The Bo Whoop article is the best and most complete one I have seen on the "historical" gun. Quite well done, I think.

It's hard to satisfy you boys. I'll say this much - Garden and Gun is a hell of a lot better than the usual poop they serve up at the newsstand for women. If you're going to criticize a mag, try any of the other 500,000 that do all they can to turn women against guns.

It oughta be mandatory that every gun owner subscribe.

What I said was: "There is a great article about Bo Whoop in the current issue of Garden & Gun" (Go to the A.H. Fox Gun Collector's website and read it) No, G&G is not The Double Gun Journal but it is a fine magazine intended to appeal to a broader
audience than just gun people. It also has a honest and distinctive "Southern Flavor" (It is published in Charleston, SC) It, unlike some others, is not filled with safari ventures and other pen raised game venues presented to be genuine hunting expeditions. Like Daryl & GregSY, I like it!

Best Regards, George
