If you expect anything other than a smart-a$$ed, useless post out of Hojo, you'll be disappointed. Better chance of getting ObamaCare being repealed, followed by his resignation. Nothing "smart-a$$ed" in my reply. Spread some knowledge Jimmy bOy instead of just replying with yer dip-stck....dip-stick.

Easy to see why you're homeless.

Joe said "If you could see light between the standing breech & bbls" You have a problem. Makes perfect sense to me & I totally agree. crosspin and circle on the lump be between .0005" and .0015" If I am correctly interpreting this as being the hinge pin & hook, when the bbls contaact the breech in closing any clearance there will immediately be reduced to ZERO. If the bbls close & you have clearance between the pin & hook, You Got Problems. Haven't read the article but perhaps he was speaking of when the gun is open this should be the free clearance for moving established by fit of the forend to knuckle. Of course if you have one of the American guns fitted with those ignorant J springs which pulls the hook into the pin & provides you with max friction during the entire opening & closing cycles You "Ain't Never Got No Clearance There".

The drawings Vic published show hook to pin contact at all times. A clearance of 0.0005" to 0.0015" (half to one and a half thousandths) clearance between the forward face of the rear lump and the back face of the action web; these two surfaces form the "circle joint." These measurements are per Bob Turner, one of the finest jointers of all time.

R'Man; That clearance there makes sense. The term "Crosspin" in the above posting was what was confusing. When this rear lump's forward face is properly fitted it has far more load area than the hook & pin for carrying the axial load of firing, yet few seem to actually realize it exists at all.

Agree, 2-p. In theory, if the circle joint was properly fitted and kept properly clean and lubed, off-face more than one and a half thou would take a frightful lot of cycles of the action. I think better fitting and more use of "draws" is one thing that allows target O/U's to go so many rounds without coming off-face. Purdeys, BTW, has a replacable circle draw dovetailed into the action and available as a spare in thousandths increments - neat!!

Yes, brain-fart on my part in using cross pin.

I've put you back on my "ignore list", so don't waste your halitosis replying to any of my posts. I won't see or miss them!
