Hi All:
I saw a SXS for sale the other day that had the lug removed from the barrels. I considered it as project gun but passed on it due to the my ignorance of reattaching said lug. Oh yes, the detached lug came with the gun.
Did I pass up a good deal on a project gun or did I make a wise move?
TIA,
Franchi

I'd say a wise move. But, how was the lug detached??

Franchi,
Recently had my gunsmith reattach a barrel lug on a L.C. Smith. A little solder and good as new.
Regards,
Max

Franchi,
Was it a Purdy or a JABC? In other words a quality double or a clunker. That would be the issue for me.

Makes me curious as to how the lug came off. I guess my question is the same as jjwag69. Who made the gun? It all depends what it is. I would spend the money if the gun was nice enough and the price was right. Otherwise you will end up with a cheap gun and an expensive repair.

Common on some guns where a splinter forend was originally furnished and it was replaced by a beavertail.

Is the "barrel lug" a sling attachment point or the attachment point for the forend? If for a sling, it could be screwed to the under-rib. If it's the forend lug Mike Orlen could properly re-attach it for you. His work is very reasonable and turnaround time is quick.
