I don't find the gauge and chamber length markings particularly obnoxious in fact it is no worse than the roll stamping on some modern guns. I do find the late Savage buttstock without the pistol grip cap on a Philadelphia gun and what appears to be a blued receiver an obvious give away that this is not close to being an "original" gun and has probably been rode hard and put away wet too many times.
