If the guns failed proof testing after chamber lengthening Savage replaced the barrels at their cost charging the customer only a nominal fee. Wish there were still folks around that operated that way today.


I wouldn't send a gun to anyone who would alter my gun's originality "as a matter of course" without first asking my permission - to which I would definitely respond with a resounding "Absolutely NOT!"


Savage would go one step further and "stamp" the new chamber lenghth and gauge on the top-side left barrel, ruining the barrels for the owner.......without asking first...........nice, huh........So, they would just BUTCHER AND STAMP at their descretion.........like having your oil changed (for those who don't do their own) and the shop changes your ring and pinon and repaints your rear bumper..........all without asking you.......
