The problem with restocking mid-range guns is that the labor is pretty much the same, no matter what the gun costs. Most stock makers (of which I am one) divide their quotes between labor & wood. You can certainly use an inexpensive piece of wood to reduce cost, but the labor is going to pretty much be the same. Minimal checkering ( which would probably be consistant with original checkering) will help some, but fitting & shaping is still pretty much the same.
