I got the shotgun from My wifes late uncle a few months ago.
I have no room for it in my gun safe,
The shotgun has 28" barrels, full & Mod. chokes I think. Very good bores,1 light ding on left barrel, minor pitting. traces of case color. Ser. # 2769xx. Has F stamped on fore end metal, all Ser. numbers match. Looks all original including butt plate, Missing trigger guard screws, butt stock is missing some pieces of wood, barrels note SMOKLESS POWDER STEEL . Barrels have been splattered with speckle of paint. Rib is tight as is the action.
Does Not Fire. I have not taken it apart.
I thought this would be the place to ask the questions, and get good answers.
Wall hanger?, or parts / project gun I would guess?
I would be grateful for any insight, you see fit to give me.

I think it depends on how much work you are qualified to do on your own and what your end product expectations are. If you decide to part it out I would be interested in the butt plate and grip cap if they're in good condition.

Nice presentation of the facts.
To answer your question, it's a project gun to me.

Not everyone likes to reload for low pressure shotguns, but it's not that big a deal, and OTC shells are available for hunting. So, it you make it go, it can be useable.
Lots of field grade Flues models are missing chunks from the top of the stock.
A decent semi-inletted stock is about 50$ plus your refinishing time to fit , sand, and finish.
The dent is accessable and repairable.
Screws are common.

Why it doesn't fire is the pig in the poke.
It looks well used, with the top lever showing some system wear.
I'd have it stripped and cleaned, and find out what's worn, and why it doesn't fire. After that, I'd buy a replacement stock, and go hunting this fall with a family heirloom.
Using RST's of course.
This is just my opinion of course, it's not laying on my bench. but I like Fluesies.
Should you decide to dump it pm me. I can use another.
God knows why. smirk

Out there doing it best I can.

Thanks to all who answered my questions. Sorry, I should have mentioned it in my first post, it has no grip cap.
I am more of a pump gun / remy 1100 fan for hunting, although I do own a Sav / Sprngfld Mod 5100 I use for for light trap. I would like to see this old SXS go to some one who would either fix it up, or use the parts to fix something they already have.
If the truth be told, I am more into old hunting dogs, than old hunting guns, lol,( my Britt turned 10 this year)
Clapper, I sent you a PM
