Depends on what and how you are shooting. I'd never hunt with muffs (way too hot) but I do know duck hunters who use muffs. I prefer analog electronic custom plugs for hunting, but all the manufacturers seem to be going full digital. NRA is/was offering a great deal on digital custom plugs from Starkey, through your audiologist, around $600/pair.
