I need a substitute stock for an M2 Springfield. I'm shooting my old original in a smallbore league this summer. The rifle shoots just fine, esp. with Wolf Match Extra, but the stock does not fit me. I am not willing to destroy a perfectly good stock, so I'm looking for a junker. If anyone has an extra, left over from a custom stocking job or some such, I would like to buy it. Condition is not important, as long as I can bed the action. I intend to shorten the stock and build up the comb and maybe fatten up the grip. It won't be pretty when I get it like I want it. PM if you have one. Thanks.

A decent original stock will cost you. If you watch ebay and gunbroker, mutilated service M1903A1 pistol grip stocks show up from time to time with forends cut off. These are not bad as is and can be bulked up nicely with wood slabbed on. More often you will find Bishop and/or Fajen and/or Herter sporter stocks removed from rifles being restored to military configuration. These can be inexpensive but on some of them the inletting is iffy.

IMO ideal, grab it. If you don't want it tell me and I will bid.

I just picked up an M2 with a nice Fajen stock. I want to turn it back to original. Interested in a Fajen? Is yours an original? Trade?

I have been watching this also. I have a heavy barreled 1903 I need a stock for and thought this was ideal. I hope it will not upset anyone if I bid on it.

I really don't want to upset anyone in the process though.

It will not upset me if anyone bids on the e-bay stock. That does look like a band for one of the 1922 series rifles.

I just want to swap stocks on my M2 so that I can use it in this summer's smallbore league. After that, the rifle will be put back in original condition. Some time back, Numerich had a batch of M2 stocks that they listed as "patched, but useful as shooters". I had hoped to locate one of those. I have a hacked up 03A1 stock. Maybe I will play with that and get one of the full-length repros for my 03A1.

I have the high bid on the stock right now but it won't bother me if you outbid me on it. I have a use for it but not in love with it
