Brent, great bird, what a set of hooks!! Nice hammergun, and BP load to boot. That's cool. Our birds don't live long enough to grow long spurs. The think the coyotes get'm!! smile Thanks for sharing.

Rob and daughter. Tell your daughter, she did good... You get the father of the year award. Most of us have grown children and only have memories like what your experiencing now with your kids. Keep taking pics, they will be great memories when in not too many years your kids will be bringing home grandkids for you to take hunting. Tell your kids all of us applaud their efforts. Will they be hunting fall upland or deer? Randy

RMC,
Coyotes are going to help your population, not hurt it. Look at your fox/coon/skunk/opossum populations, they are probably your issue. That or hard nesting conditions and too much hunting pressure.

I love those western birds. Man, they are pretty. Much prettier than ours I think. Of course things always look greener elsewhere. But one day, I'm going to have to go out there and hunt one of those.

Brent

Randy,

Thanks for the words. My daughter will hunt it all this fall, and the oldest boy will go for doves, deer, and waterfowl. I will probably take the youngest out goose hunting as they are the next easiest thing for a small one to swing on. He has a few years of growing before I take him for deer or upland. He does hike with us, but isn't ready for everything. I am a self-centered SOB and never realized I could have so much vicarious pleasure. The joy I get from taking my kids out is something I never anticipated.

Good luck to all in the turkey woods, I hope to see more pics and stories.

Rob.

Brent, The coyote battle was waged last spring. All waded in with comments so I think all was said last year. I know, I sent the first volley this year. Just couldn't help it. We just see things differently. Randy

Yep, like you say, you fired first.

You see however you see. I see with data.

'tis no wonder why you get confused on this issue.

Mark, that is a hell of a bird! What do they have for spurs? I have heard of a few biologists getting beat up badly by one or two of these guys. They are not harmless.

Just a little guy but took it with my Else 10 bore Grade 1 that I bought at the Southern last week. According to the records she turned 105 years old yesterday. Shot the bird 30 miles from the Fulton factory.
