I come home for lunch today and in the back yard with my two black labs is this German Shorthair. Nice dog, no collar and in great shape. Now the two big questions are where's his house and who thought that it was my dog? I've got a 6' high fence with gates, so someone had to have opened one up to get him in. I've put up signs and ads for him on Craigslist. We'll see if the owner is even looking. JW

Looks to be an "Old Timer". 6 foot fences aren't much of an obstacal for some dogs. When left alone I had a 30 lb Brittany that could climb a 6ft fence about as quick as you could close the gate.

My GWP can scale a 6ft fence like a cat. Looks like you might have to add a pointer to your bunch.

Well, I cleaned his teeth, trimmed the talons and my wife gave him a bath. Now he's crashed out on one of the dog beds with us and the two labs watching TV. The local pound will be open tomorrow and I'll check and see in anyone has been looking. I've already had neighbors want him. And that was pre spa treatment. JW

That dog may not be lost. He was have been put there deliberately by the owner. With hard times, folks have problems keeping pets. Your place may have looked like a place that would take sympathy on him and find him a good home. From the sound of your fencing, that is my bet.
It happened last year to a friend with horses. Came home to three new nags in the pasture. All fences secure, all gates closed.

(Actually I got my beagle Belle when somebody abandoned her as a pup. Dumb a_s--like throwing away 25 pounds of gold!).

New data. Saw an ad in my city for a found shorthair from a week ago. Turns out its the same dog and they couldn't find the owner either. JW
