I know this is not a lot of information but a friend has a Winchester 21, 28" barrels, circa 1932, said to be 95%. Can anyone let me know an approximate value or at least some range of value. Thanks.

No one can help without knowing gauge. A 12 would be 3500 and up depending on other features. Its hard to find a decent 20 offered for sale under $8k. And--if you watch gunbroker--it seems buyers are not willing to pay what sellers think their gun is worth.

Assuming 12 gauge, single trigger, beavertail, and matted rib, asking prices will be in the $4000-5000 range, with most candidates occupying the lower half of that range. If the seller is intent on moving the gun realtively soon, he might have to soften the price 10% or so. If the condition is bumped up to about 98%, the price could be as much as $1000 more. Condition is a real lever, depending on which side ot the trade you're on. Date of manufacture has little or no influence on price, but it seems that some of the very early guns with the "perch-belly" stocks and semi-pistol grips are real turkeys in the market place. Look around. There are always a lot of 21's for sale

Thanks guys. The gun is a 12ga. but I have little other information. This at least tells me the asking price of $5,500.00 could be on the very high side.

I can almost guarantee that the gun in question has been restocked/refinished and is not original, whether or not 95%. Circa 1932 is one of the first M21's produced. Frankly, I would on in the search for a Model 21 of newer vintage. Just because the barrels are marked Winchester Model 21 does not make it automatically worth purchasing. Don't let you friend be caught up in the allure of a Model 21. Good pictures and better still an in hands evaluation are needed before making a decision about whether to even consider purchasing the gun. at any price.-Dick

A 1932 gun is likely to be a non ejector gun, unless it isn't. You have to know what configuration the gun is before you progress to step two, condition.
