I've never used a safety for clay games on an sxs or o/u. I simply break the gun. I suspect most people do the same. I really don't see a use for a safety of any type for a clays gun except for a mechanical problem where a loaded shell is in the chamber and the gun can't be openned for whatever reason. I've never shot at a pigeon ring, but I suspect most shooters would simply break the gun as well.
I have an Ithaca 20g with the Miller design/Ithaca produced SST that is being restored by Gunter. It has the safety/integral barrel selector switch. I should have it back in time for next season. I certainly plan to try it on some quail and pheasant. I'll see how well I can use the selector on the flush.
I'm thinking the best selector would be mind controlled once we get the laser rangefinder implants.
