Ithaca Classid Doubles 28 gauge, Miller Single Trigger:
A friend of mine has a neat little ICD 4E 28 gauge with a Miller single trigger. It has "Miller" stamped on the side of the trigger.
Would the Miller single trigger be original to the gun?
When did Miller triggers cease being available?

Sure it would. Turnbull owns/owned the Miller single trigger marque and manufactured it and I believe he installed them into ICD's as an option, could be to that the gun was sent to Turnbull as an aftermarket treatment as well.

Dustin is correct. Early in ICD production Doug Turnbull installed the Miller SST on guns ordered with the ST option. At some point ICD took to installing in house.

I have a 1927 L.C. Smith Ideal Gr. 12 ga that has a Miller single trigger, it is the early one that has the selector where they all should be, on the safety slide. Operates like a 3 position safety, forward right barrel, rearward, left barrel.
Although I must admit in over 45 years of shooting I have never selected a trigger postion yet. I could see where it could be helpful in waterfowl hunting.

The only selector that I've used that seemed suited to change barrels in an upland hunting flushing situation, was the Win 21/SKB or similar trigger mounted button that you pushed to the left (for a righthanded gunner) to select the left barrel (commonly the tighter choked barrel). I found I could do this very quickly. I've never been good enough to select barrels on the flush with any other designs. Therein, I believe lies one of the reasons the double trigger is still popular among some upland hunters.

The selector/safety on the Remington 3200 is the best arrangement I've seen. The act of taking the gun off safe selects the barrel

Turnbull did the case colors on the ICD's. Logical to have him do the triggers too. And he's just down the road from the former ICD shop. Turnbull also owned Miller at that time. He put it up for sale since then. Don't know about Miller's current status.
